Technology in Biology

December

Well, we have just finished our cell establishment projects and I must say that most of you did a fantastic job.  Please refer to your fantastic pictures through my Pictures link.  Parents, thank you for your permission to upload these pictures of your children.  I found that all of your hard work resulted in better grades on your cell tests through my survey that was done.  Please be sure to check out your rubric results that were used for your evaluations and grade.  Now, we are moving on to learn how to communicate effectively and professionally through the use of business letters.  You will learn to use letter templates and blank documents for proper format, efficient punctuation and effective content.  Your first assignment is to brainstorm in relation to a complaint letter.  Each of you will type up a sample letter displaying an introductory paragraph, middle and summary paragraph following the recommendations taught in class.  This project will be graded for layout (vertically centered), spacing (must include correct spacing), proper punctuation and content.  You will also need to hand in a second letter (identical) that includes a relating table and graph within the body of the letter.   Please see sample provided below:

PowerPoint -- the end of Dec. and January

Thank you for all of your blogs . . . I now know where I should begin: "Yes, the beginning."  I have been busy introducing many techniques of Powerpoint which will help you present well-done, effective presentations for others to learn from.  We started by using a familiar topic, "The Topsfield Fair" in order to learn the concepts.  From that, we will then venture into biology concepts where each of you will be creating a presentation called "Photosynthesis".   All of the tools available in PowerPoint will be used throughout this presentation.
